The Svenska Batunionen (SBU, Swedish Yachting Association), the instigators of the award together with Sweboat and the Martime Safety Inspectorate, have now elected the Best Environmental Motorboat for 2009.
Especially important in judging criteria have been environmentally suitable manufacturing methods for using laminate, easily propelled hull design producing limited wash and noise, low fuel consumption, environmentally suitable materials use and country of origin marked wood, a complete and pedagogically designed owner´s handbook and environmentally friendly handling of waste and oil-based products.
Nimbus Boats run a purpose-designed environmental program based on taking care on the environment in which boat people live, work, holiday and find freedom in natural and unspoilt surroundings.
To guarantee solid, purpose-built and dynamic design along with very high quality boat building, all Nimbus Boat models are created in cooperation with Det Norska Veritas (DNV), an organisation that certifies boats according to both CE directives and to higher and additional standards.
The Nimbus 27 Nova S is built at the Nimbus Boats yard in Mariestad, were a new building was recently opened for efficient production according to strict environment standards. This plant won an award in June 2008; the Mariestad municipality Environment Prize for best indoor and outdoor environment.
Laminate production is based on injection in a closed process, this having the advantage of contributing to a clean working environment without generating any emmisions.
